Frame Options
Loewen offers a selection of robust frame options designed to complement their high-quality casement windows. These frames are engineered for durability, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal, ensuring a seamless integration into any architectural style.
The primary frame materials available are:
- Wood: Loewen's wood frames are crafted from select, kiln-dried hardwoods, offering a warm, natural aesthetic and excellent insulation properties. These frames are designed for both beauty and performance, providing a classic look that can be stained or painted to match interior décor.
- Clad-Wood: This option combines the inherent beauty and insulating qualities of wood on the interior with a protective, low-maintenance aluminum exterior. The extruded aluminum cladding offers superior resistance to weathering, corrosion, and impact, significantly reducing the need for exterior maintenance while preserving the warmth and natural beauty of wood inside.
- All-Aluminum: For environments where extreme durability and minimal maintenance are paramount, Loewen provides all-aluminum frames. These are constructed from robust, extruded aluminum, offering exceptional strength and resistance to the elements. This option is ideal for commercial applications or residences in harsh climates.
Each frame material can be further customized with a variety of finishes and colors to achieve the desired look and complement the building's overall design. The precision engineering of Loewen frames ensures a tight seal, contributing to enhanced energy performance and comfort within the home or building.
Glass Options
Loewen offers a comprehensive selection of glass options designed to enhance the performance, aesthetics, and comfort of their Casement windows. These options cater to a variety of needs, from energy efficiency and solar heat gain control to privacy and sound dampening.
Standard Glass:
- Double-Pane Insulated Glass: This is the standard offering, featuring two panes of glass separated by a sealed space filled with inert gas (typically Argon). This design significantly reduces heat transfer, improving energy efficiency and comfort.
High-Performance Glass Options:
- Loewen Triple-Pane Insulated Glass: For the ultimate in thermal performance, triple-pane glass utilizes three panes of glass with two sealed spaces filled with inert gas. This provides superior insulation, further reducing heating and cooling costs and enhancing sound insulation.
- Low-E (Low-Emissivity) Coatings: Loewen offers various Low-E coatings, which are microscopically thin, transparent metallic layers applied to the glass surface. These coatings reflect infrared heat while allowing visible light to pass through. This helps to keep heat inside during the winter and outside during the summer, leading to significant energy savings and improved comfort. Different Low-E coatings are available to optimize for specific climates and solar heat gain control needs.
- Tinted Glass: Tinted glass options are available to reduce solar heat gain and glare, providing a more comfortable interior environment and protecting furnishings from fading.
- Obscure Glass: For privacy or decorative purposes, obscure glass options are available. These glasses diffuse light, obscuring the view while still allowing natural light to enter.
- Impact-Resistant Glass: In regions prone to severe weather, impact-resistant glass is offered to provide enhanced protection against forced entry and flying debris.
- Tempered Glass: Tempered glass is a safety glass that is heat-treated to increase its strength. If broken, it shatters into small, relatively harmless pieces, reducing the risk of injury. It is often required in certain building codes for safety reasons.
- Laminated Glass: Laminated glass consists of two or more panes of glass bonded together with a plastic interlayer. It offers enhanced security, sound insulation, and UV protection. If broken, the glass fragments adhere to the interlayer, remaining in place and preventing dangerous shards from falling.
- Grids and Muntins: While not a glass type itself, Loewen offers a variety of grid and muntin options that can be integrated within the insulated glass unit or applied to the surface. These can be decorative or functional, mimicking traditional window designs and offering aesthetic customization.
Glass Packages:
Loewen often bundles these glass technologies into curated packages designed for specific performance goals:
- Energy Efficient Packages: These typically combine double or triple-pane construction with specialized Low-E coatings and inert gas fills to maximize thermal performance and minimize energy consumption.
- Comfort Packages: These packages focus on enhancing indoor comfort through optimized solar heat gain control, glare reduction, and improved U-values.
- Privacy Packages: These utilize obscure glass options to provide privacy in bathrooms, bedrooms, or other areas where it is desired.
- Security Packages: These incorporate impact-resistant or laminated glass for enhanced protection.
The specific availability of each glass option may vary by product line and region. Consulting with a Loewen dealer is recommended to determine the best glass configuration for your project's unique requirements.
