Construction and Materials
Millboard's innovative composite siding offers a durable and visually appealing alternative to traditional wood siding. The construction of Millboard products centers on a proprietary composite material designed to mimic the natural beauty and texture of real wood without the associated maintenance drawbacks.
The core of Millboard siding is a unique blend of natural minerals and polymers. This composition is chosen for its exceptional strength, stability, and resistance to moisture, rot, and insect damage. Unlike many other composite materials, Millboard's formula does not contain wood fibers, which can be prone to swelling, shrinking, and decay.
A key aspect of Millboard's construction is its casting process. Each piece is individually hand-molded from actual oak boards. This meticulous process captures the intricate details, grain patterns, and unique imperfections found in natural wood, resulting in an exceptionally realistic appearance. The mold-making process ensures that no two boards are exactly alike, providing a bespoke aesthetic for any exterior.
The surface of the siding is further enhanced with a durable, UV-resistant coating. This coating not only protects the composite material from fading and degradation caused by sunlight but also contributes to the authentic wood-like feel and finish. This process allows for a range of rich, natural colors and finishes that are integral to the product itself, rather than applied as a surface paint that could chip or peel.
Millboard siding is designed for easy installation and long-term performance. The boards are lightweight yet robust, making them manageable for contractors. They can be cut and worked with standard carpentry tools, simplifying the installation process.
